![]() All of a sudden, my PC can't recognize it anymore. Until a few weeks ago, I used to play FIFA 15 and other games with my XBOX 360 controller (USB). You're about it being a hardware failure.I'm having this issue. So uninstalling the driver didn't help? Does the controller work on other computers? (Must say, though, I've not seen this myself and might well expect to have if it's that common.) and a valid reason to not update drivers except as absolutely necessary, if it's so widespread. The implication being that there are parts of the device which are unused in "normal" operation and if these fail they do so silently, but on driver update they are enumberated and checked over and if they fail the check then the whole device is marked bad, despite the fact that it would work perfectly fine? It's not just limited to external USB peripherals, I've seen the similar, related behavior with WiFi cards and graphics cards too. Only once the driver is loaded does it expose a feature that has a show-stopping fault and the device either drops out, resets, or appears with a fault in device manager. The USB controller sees the logic board of the device responding with the deviceID and information, and everything looks good so it installs the appropriate driver to enable all the features of the device. I see this behaviour a lot in devices that require drivers to activate certain features. Then suddenly all went down! I didn't check it in the past cause it stopped working right after the update and it was working like charm before that. ![]() I plugged it in a friend's PC and it got discovered. but really, just revert if it was working.Įven if your time has less value than whatever intrinsic value you ascribe to having the newer driver, consideration should be given to the fact that by mucking around in this way it's possible to use up the system restore space and cheat oneself out of the easy/guaranteed option. I understand the tendency to try and make it work, even the assertion of "but it should work with the new driver". One can spend potentially large amount of time trying to make a new driver work, or one can instead just revert to the working config that was already deployed. Lol wut? Sorry, but driver updating on Windows is (still!) prone to breakage and there is nowt wrong with the process of create restore point, upgrade, test, restore if tests fail. Far cleaner and easier than doing a system restore! ![]() This worked for mine when it got messed up from a bad driver. It should download fresh WHQL drivers from windows update which will work, unless your pad is faulty. Then, once the uninstall is complete, right click anything in device manager and scan for hardware changes. Checked the controller by plugging it into my Xbox 360 (the controller works perfectly fine)īefore doing all that hocus-pocus, I would go to device manager with the 360 pad plugged in and "uninstall this device" making sure you tick the box to "also remove the driver software for this device". Tried downloading the driver for Windows 7 32 bit. Connected the controller in USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. Uninstall and reinstalled the new driver. My Windows won't recognize my Xbox 360 controller. cs-connect).īut, the problem still exists. I thought that the driver is not correctly installed so I downloaded the new driver 'Xbox 360 Accessories Software 1.2' from (. However, after that, my Windows is not recognizing the Xbox controller and shows as 'Unknown Device' under USB Human Interface Device in the Device Manager. But, when I plugged in the controller two days ago, a new Windows Update appeared for Xbox controller, so I downloaded the update. I just plugged in the controller and the Windows would automatically download the necessary software to make it work. Previously, the controller worked perfectly fine. When I plug the controller into the USB port, a small pop-up message appears in the bottom right corner stating "USB Device Not Recognized." Just recently, my Xbox 360 wired controller stopped working Windows 7 (64 bit).
